Cinnamon Bun Coffee Cake
We were having friends over for dinner and I wanted to make a dessert. I’m not big into sugary things, but lately that’s all I can think about. I will tell you right now, this recipe is by no means healthy. However it is very delicious!
The cake is moist and fluffy with cinnamon swirl through out, I mean it doesn’t get much better. Replacing the crumble you see on top of a traditional coffee cake, is a delicious cinnamon bun glaze.
Poor yourself a big cup of coffee or tea and settle in with a generous slice of this cake.
Cinnamon Bun Coffee Cake
This is a great recipe to quickly whip up with ingredients you probably already have in your pantry!
Cake:
1 cup sugar
3 cups flour
4 tsp baking powder
2 tsp cinnamon
2 eggs
1/2 cup melted butter
1 1/2 cups of milk
2 tsp Vanilla
2 tsp Almond Extract
A pinch of salt
Topping:
1 cup melted butter
1 cup brown sugar
2 tbsp flour
1 tbsp cinnamon
Glaze:
1 cup of powdered sugar
2 1/2 tbsp of milk
1 tsp Vanilla
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Mix all cake ingredients together until well combined. KitchenAid Mixer or electric beaters work great for this!
Mix all topping ingredients together in a small bowl. A wooden spoon or spatula will work for this step.
Pour half of the cake mixture into your greased 9x13 pan, then pour half of the topping mixture in and spread it evenly on top with a spatula.
Pour the rest of the cake mix into the pan, again topping it with the remainder of the topping mixture. Spread out evenly on top.
Take a butter knife and lightly swirl the batter around to combine all ingredients.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 min.
To make the glaze mix together all ingredients until well combined and runny. Add a little more milk if needed.
While the cake is warm, drizzle your glaze over top and let it harden up.
Serve at room temperature or hot out of the oven!
Hope you enjoy this as much as we did, I mean there’s no way you won’t!
